Centennial Village is an entirely smoke-free campus. This means that no smoking is permitted anywhere on campus by anyone. Residents are prohibited from smoking in their units. Violations of this policy will result in a 5-Day Heath & Safety, or a 10-day notice and/or eviction.
Centennial is pre-wired for both Cox and CenturyLink (Qwest). The choice is up to you. Dish and Satellite TV are not available on our campus at this time on a universal basis. Some apartments are able to receive the satellite picture, while others are not. Residents interested in satellite installation should inquire with the office to receive the guidelines for satellite placement and restrictions.
No. We maintain full occupancy, and given the lenght of our waitlist, do not keep an empty apartment which someone could genuinely benefit from. Please see the photos page for an example of our apartments. All of our 153 apartments are identical except orientation (kitchen & bedroom will be either on the right or the left).
When you reach the top of the waitlist and have completed your application, you will be able to see the apartment available for you as soon as it is ready. At that time you will need to accept or decline the apartment. Should you decline the apartment you will be removed from the waitlist and will need to apply again should you wish to. You may only transfer apartments after you move into Centennial Village for medically-approved mobility reasons. Centennial has 18 specially equipped apartments for the mobility impaired. Should you need the features of one of these apartments, you would need to fill out an application for the waitlist to transfer, and accompany the application with a verification of necessity from a medical professional. No other apartment transfers are allowed.
Yes. Centennial Village has a regular 'Town Hall' meeting, in which the residents and staff get together to discuss issues concerning the community at Centennial. We also have 'Staff & Resident Coffee' where staff and residents can get together over coffee to discuss life at Centennial in a smaller group. Lastly, residents may schedule an appointment with staff to discuss or address specific items.
Three sets of requirements apply at Centennial Village. The first are the requirements set forth in Centennial's contract with HUD. The second is Arizona's real estate law and landlord tenant act, as set forth in the Arizona Revised Statues. And third are the rules that the board of directors of Centennial Village proscribe for the smooth operation and management of the facility.
Yes. Each floor has its own laundry room with one washer and one dryer. There are 17 apartments on each floor, which all share the same laundry room. Laundry room hours are posted on the laundry room doors, and are generally open unless repairs require their temporary closure. Currently, Centennial contracts with an outside company which operates the washers and dryers. The current cost is $1.00/wash and $1.00/dry.
No. Centennial Village Corporation is an independent non-profit, governed by a board of directors, and managed by the corporations employees.
Centennial participates as a contracted housing provider under HUD's 202/8 program. Centennial has operated under this program from it's inception, and plans to remain in the program into the forseeable future. Centennial's goal is to provide gracious and affordable independent living to low-income seniors. We feel that the best way to remain affordable is through HUD's program, and that the best way to remain gracious is to have an efficient operation that allows our limited staff to focus on completing all of their required work and have some time each day to interact with residents. Yes, you may have an approved pet live with you at Centennial Village. However, prior to having a pet come to live with you at Centennial Village, two things must first be completed:
1. The pet must be registered and and approved by Centennial Village staff. 2. The refundable pet deposit of $300 must be paid. In order to register an approved pet, residents must provide all required inoculation and veterinarian's certificates requested, as well as the contact information of two local individuals who would be willing to take ownership of the pet should the need arise. While approved and registered pets are allowed and welcome at Centennial Village, any pet may be barred from the property at the management's sole discretion for any reason. You can find Centennial's full Pet Policy here. Special requirements apply to service animals. Prior to your moving in, you must schedule an appointment to sign your lease. At this appointment you will inspect your new apartment, sign your lease, pay your security deposit via check or money order, pay your pro-rated first month's rent via check or money order (two separate checks are required), and receive your keys.
Please be aware that this process takes approximately one to two hours, and that absolutely no moving is allowed during this appointment. The apartment is yours to enter and move your possessions into only after you have signed the lease with Centennial Village and paid the necessary rent and security deposit. |
